First Surgeries in Spain Using Medacta Shoulder System

Medacta is proud to announce the successful completion of the first two surgeries in Spain using its Medacta Shoulder System on February 13th and 14th 2020.

The surgeries were successfully performed by Dr. Enrique Palomares at the Hospital Francesc de Borja, and assisted by one of the designers of the Medacta Shoulder System, Prof. Dr. med. Müller from Klinikum der Universität München (Germany).

The Medacta Shoulder System is an innovative shoulder replacement system that features a broad range of options and allows the surgeons to choose the best implant for their patients. It is a modular system that offers the flexibility, if necessary, to move from a hemi-arthroplasty to a total or reverse arthroplasty.

Medacta’s M.O.R.E. Institute has created a comprehensive Shoulder Education Program to support surgeons through the training process while they learn how to master the Medacta Shoulder System. Furthermore, in cases like these, surgeons can benefit from proctorship and be assisted by expert practitioners for their first surgery cases using the Medacta Shoulder System. When working with new technologies there is always the challenge of the associated learning curve. This is the reason for which the M.O.R.E. Institute has created specific education programs to provide continuous support to professionals in the field of research and education with the aim of improving patient outcomes.
